What is Messaging?
Messaging allows you to send email and site notifications to customer segments using Modyo Target functionality and analyze results.
Campaigns
Campaigns are used to send email and site notifications. Access Campaigns by going to Account > Customers > Messaging > Campaigns.
There are two types of Campaigns:
- Mailing - Sends emails to the Target Customers selected in the campaign.
- Notification - Sends site notifications to authenticated customers that is viewed in their account profile.
To create a new campaign select + New. You can edit your campaigns by selecting the 3 dots .
To begin Name your campaign, provide a Subject and select the Campaign type (Mailing or Notification). Depending on the type different fields will appear. Notification campaigns are simpler. The From field will insert the reply-to email in the event of a Mailing campaign.
If you have pre-defined Templates, you can select the template to use. Finish creating a campaign by selecting the "Target" for customer segments.
When you've configured your Campaign select: and you can add your Campaign message.
The Message Editor will be either blank or preloaded with the Template selected. The platform uses Froala as the messsage editor. Select to swith to the code editor CodeMirror.
Notification campaigns only allow the following tags:

You can also use certain field tags such as: %{first_name}, %{last_name}
Once you're Campaign is created you'll go to the Campaign View shown below.
Select Send to open the Send Modal.
Select the check box if you'd like to exclude previous recipients.
In Message Editor you can edit your message before sending.
Send Test opens a modal where you can enter the coma separated emails to send the test campaign.
Preview shows your message to be received by target customers.
Click on the 3 dots to continue editing or erase the Campaign.
Campaign Results
As soon as you send your Campaign you'll see metrics for your campaign.
You can see your Campaign Status Inactive, In Progress or Completed.
Reach: The number of unique customers in the Campaign. If a customer is in two targets, they will only receive one email or notification per Campaign.
Deliveries: The number of times the same campaign was sent - either as the same message or a different message that has been edited.
Sent: The number of successfully sent emails.
Opened: The number of emails received and opened.
Unique Opened: The number of emails received and opened for the first time.
Clicks: The number of clicks, once an email is opened. These include all links included in your campaign. One customer can have multiple clicks per Campaign.
Unique Clicks: The number of at least one click (first click) once an email is opened.
Spam: The number of emails arriving to Spam.
Beneath the metrics you can see which targets were reached by your Campaign.
Note: We recommend you send your campaign from a familiar contact email or ask your customers to add your designated Campaign email to their list of contacts to lower the risk of your messages being sent to Spam or Promotions.
Messages
Within the Messages section you can filter by Campaign/No Campaign and Delivery Date to see which users were sent Messages from the platform.
Developers can also use the Messaging API to send emails and notifications. You can see all messages sent via the platform API that do not pertain to a specific Campaign.
Templates
To create a new template go to Account > Customers > Messaging > Templates and click + New.
You will Name your template and edit the base Content. When you're done select Save. The template will be available when you create email Campaigns. In the Template list you can edit by selecting the downward chevron . You can also

Erase your template.
Unsubscriptions
Every email is sent with an unsubscribe option at the bottom of the email. You can view your Customers that have elected to not receive email. If a Customer has accidentally selected Unsubscribe you can manually restore their capacity to receive email by selecting Delete unsubscription in Actions.
